Mayowa Adegoke: Connecting African Talent, Stories, and Opportunities

From Lagos to Dubai, Mayowa Adegoke has built a remarkable career in media, entrepreneurship, and community leadership, creating platforms that connect African professionals with opportunities on a global scale.

Some careers are carefully planned. Others are built through courage, vision, and the willingness to seize opportunities when they appear. For Mayowa Adegoke, her journey has been a remarkable blend of all three.

Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Mayowa grew up in an environment that taught resilience, ambition, and determination. She often describes Lagos as a city that “does not take rubbish,” and its energy played a significant role in shaping the woman she would become. Equally influential was her mother, a hardworking businesswoman whose entrepreneurial drive inspired Mayowa from an early age.

By the age of 13, Mayowa was already gaining hands-on business experience. She spent weekends and school holidays assisting in her mother’s ventures as a shop assistant and continued promoting the business during her university years. Those early lessons in responsibility, leadership, and enterprise would later become the foundation of her success across multiple industries.

Her love for storytelling began long before she stepped into a newsroom. As a child, she was fascinated by television broadcasting, particularly Channels TV. Combined with the influence of her father, a media professional, her dream of becoming a broadcaster took shape early in life.

After earning a degree in Mass Communication, Mayowa began building her media career through roles at Flytime Promotions and freelance work with LagosMums. In 2013, she achieved a milestone that once seemed like a childhood dream when she joined Channels Television.

Over the years, she established herself as a respected news presenter and reporter. Covering a wide range of stories, she became known for her intelligence, curiosity, and engaging on-screen presence. Her ability to connect with audiences and tell meaningful stories helped distinguish her in a competitive industry.

Then came a defining moment.

In 2019, recognising that Channels TV had no correspondent in the United Arab Emirates despite the significant Nigerian presence there, Mayowa identified an opportunity. Rather than waiting for someone else to fill the gap, she wrote a proposal to the station. After receiving approval, she relocated to Dubai to join her husband and begin a new chapter.

The move would prove transformational.

What started as a correspondent role quickly evolved into leadership. Within a few years, Mayowa was leading Channels TV’s operations in Dubai while expanding her influence across the region. Her work brought her face-to-face with globally recognised personalities, including Steve Harvey, Akon, D-Banj, Yvonne Orji, and Nigeria’s former Vice President.

As her profile grew, so did her ambitions.

Determined to create stronger connections between Africa and the UAE, she co-founded Archgoke Interactive, a media and business consulting company designed to bridge opportunities between both regions. The venture reflected her broader vision of facilitating collaboration, communication, and growth across borders.

At the same time, she recognised another challenge facing African immigrants in the UAE. When she arrived in Dubai in 2019, there was little in the way of a structured professional community for Africans seeking guidance, support, and networking opportunities.

Rather than accept the situation, she created a solution.

Mayowa founded Success Community Dubai, formerly known as the Road to Success Seminar. Through events, webinars, and networking initiatives, the platform has grown into one of the most dynamic African professional communities in the region, helping individuals build meaningful connections and unlock new opportunities.

Her impact has earned widespread recognition.

In 2021, she received honours from the She Awards UAE and was named one of the 12 Most Inspirational and Entrepreneurial Women by the UAE Africa Networking Group. She was also nominated as one of the Most Influential People of African Descent globally. In addition, she earned recognition as Media Personality of the Year for her work covering and highlighting community stories in Dubai.

Today, Mayowa continues to wear many hats. She is an international journalist, media entrepreneur, conference moderator, podcast host, public speaking coach, speaker coach, community builder, and convener. Yet despite the diversity of her accomplishments, a single purpose connects every role she undertakes.

She is committed to telling better African stories and creating meaningful opportunities for African professionals around the world.

Describing herself as “a joyous bundle of a human being who loves to tell stories through media,” Mayowa has built a career that extends far beyond journalism. Through storytelling, entrepreneurship, and community building, she has become a powerful voice connecting Africa to the world one story, one conversation, and one opportunity at a time.

And judging by her remarkable journey so far, the world is still listening.
