FEMEST Commercial Content, Partnerships & Paid Features Policy

Last Updated: September 2026

1. Purpose of This Policy

FEMEST is a global women’s magazine headquartered in London. Alongside independently commissioned editorial content, FEMEST works with individuals, brands, businesses, PR agencies and other organisations through commercial features, partnerships, campaigns and sponsored content.

This policy explains how FEMEST approaches commercial content and the standards that apply when content is produced or published as part of a paid arrangement.

Our aim is to maintain a clear distinction between commercial relationships and independent editorial decision-making while providing professional opportunities for individuals and organisations to share relevant stories with FEMEST’s audience.

2. Types of Commercial Content

Commercial arrangements with FEMEST may include, but are not limited to:

  • paid interviews and profiles;
  • sponsored articles and features;
  • brand features;
  • advertorial content;
  • commercial listicles or editorial-style features;
  • digital campaigns;
  • social media collaborations;
  • newsletter placements;
  • event partnerships;
  • product or service features;
  • website placements;
  • content packages;
  • special editions and campaigns; and
  • other bespoke editorial or promotional collaborations.

The exact deliverables associated with a commercial arrangement will normally be agreed before publication.

3. Commercial Content and Independent Editorial

FEMEST publishes both independently selected editorial content and content created through commercial arrangements.

Payment for a feature does not mean that an individual, company or organisation becomes part of FEMEST’s independent editorial coverage.

Similarly, the existence of a commercial relationship does not provide a client, representative or agency with control over FEMEST’s wider editorial decisions.

FEMEST retains the right to determine how commercial content is presented within its publications and platforms.

4. Editorial Standards Apply to Paid Content

Payment does not exempt content from FEMEST’s editorial standards.

FEMEST may edit commercial submissions for grammar, spelling, structure, readability, formatting, SEO, tone, house style, legal considerations and general editorial quality.

We reserve the right to request changes or supporting information where content contains claims that raise significant editorial, legal or ethical concerns.

FEMEST may refuse to publish material that it reasonably considers unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, misleading, plagiarised, harmful or inconsistent with the publication’s standards.

5. Paid Interviews and Profiles

Where an interview or profile forms part of a commercial arrangement, information may be supplied directly by the featured individual, their representative, business or PR agency.

For interview-led content, FEMEST may publish answers, experiences, achievements, opinions and other information provided by the interviewee.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, publication does not mean that FEMEST has independently investigated, verified or endorsed every personal, professional or commercial claim made by the interviewee.

The individual or organisation supplying the information is responsible for ensuring that information provided to FEMEST is truthful, accurate and lawful to publish.

FEMEST may edit interview material for grammar, length, clarity, structure and house style without intentionally changing the meaning of the interviewee’s responses.

6. Commercial Disclosure

Where required or appropriate, FEMEST may identify commercial content using terminology such as Sponsored, Paid Partnership, Partner Content, Advertorial, Brand Partnership, Commercial Feature or another suitable disclosure.

The terminology used may vary depending on the nature of the collaboration, platform, format and applicable advertising requirements.

FEMEST will not agree to conceal a commercial relationship where disclosure is legally or ethically required.

7. Editorial Control

Commercial partners may normally provide information, imagery, preferred links, factual details and reasonable feedback relating to their feature.

However, final editorial presentation remains at FEMEST’s discretion.

FEMEST may determine the headline, introduction, formatting, imagery placement, categories, metadata, internal links and other editorial or technical elements of a publication.

Where pre-publication approval has been specifically included within a commercial package, the scope and number of revisions may be subject to the terms agreed for that campaign.

8. Links and SEO

Commercial features may include links where these form part of the agreed package and are considered appropriate for publication.

FEMEST does not guarantee specific search-engine rankings, traffic levels, indexing, domain metrics, referral traffic, AI visibility or other third-party platform outcomes unless such a guarantee has been expressly agreed in writing.

Search engines, social networks, AI platforms and other third-party services operate independently of FEMEST and may change how they index, rank or display content at any time.

FEMEST may amend links or their technical attributes where necessary to comply with legal requirements, search-engine guidance or FEMEST’s publishing standards.

9. Images and Materials Supplied by Clients

Clients, agencies and featured individuals may provide photographs, logos, graphics, videos or other materials for publication.

By supplying such material to FEMEST, the supplier confirms that they own the material or have sufficient rights and permissions for FEMEST to use it for the agreed publication and associated promotion.

The supplier is responsible for obtaining any necessary photographer, model, copyright-holder or other third-party permissions.

FEMEST may resize, crop, format or otherwise make reasonable technical or editorial adjustments to supplied assets.

10. Claims and Responsibility for Supplied Information

Clients and their representatives are responsible for the accuracy of information they provide to FEMEST.

This includes names, titles, qualifications, awards, business information, professional achievements, statistics, product information and other claims supplied for inclusion.

FEMEST reserves the right to request clarification or evidence where appropriate but is not responsible for independently verifying every statement supplied for commercial content.

If FEMEST subsequently becomes aware that published information may be materially inaccurate, misleading or unlawful, we reserve the right to amend, temporarily remove or permanently remove the relevant content.

11. Publication Timelines

Estimated publication dates or turnaround times may be provided when a commercial arrangement is agreed.

Publication schedules may occasionally change because of editorial requirements, outstanding information, revisions, technical issues, legal considerations, publication schedules or circumstances outside FEMEST’s reasonable control.

Where a specific publication deadline is essential to a campaign, this should be agreed in writing in advance.

12. Amendments After Publication

Reasonable factual corrections may be considered after publication.

Substantial rewrites, replacement of significant portions of an article, repeated changes, new promotional messaging, additional links or major changes requested after publication may be treated as additional work and may incur a further fee.

FEMEST reserves the right to determine whether a requested amendment constitutes a correction or a new commercial requirement.

13. Cancellation and Refunds

Commercial bookings may involve editorial planning, communication, research, writing, design, administration and reserved publication capacity before an article or campaign goes live.

For this reason, payments may become non-refundable once work has commenced or publication capacity has been allocated, subject to the individual agreement and applicable consumer or contractual rights.

Where FEMEST is unable to deliver an agreed commercial service, we will assess the appropriate remedy according to the circumstances and the terms under which the service was purchased.

Any campaign-specific cancellation or refund terms communicated at the time of booking will also apply.

14. Removal of Published Commercial Content

Payment for publication does not create an unconditional right for content to remain online permanently.

FEMEST may amend, archive or remove content where reasonably necessary because of legal concerns, inaccurate or misleading information, third-party rights, regulatory requirements, technical changes, reputational concerns, breaches of agreement or FEMEST’s editorial standards.

Requests from clients to remove previously published commercial content will be considered individually.

15. Third-Party Agencies and Representatives

Where an agency, publicist or other representative purchases or arranges a feature on behalf of another individual or organisation, FEMEST may reasonably assume that the representative has authority to act on their client’s behalf.

The representative is responsible for ensuring that appropriate approvals and permissions have been obtained from their client before materials are submitted for publication.

16. No Endorsement

Publication of commercial content should not automatically be interpreted as FEMEST personally recommending, certifying or guaranteeing the featured individual, organisation, product or service.

Readers should exercise their own judgement when making purchasing, professional, financial, health, travel or other decisions based on information contained within a feature.

17. Compliance

Commercial collaborations must comply with applicable laws, regulations and advertising requirements.

FEMEST may refuse, amend or remove commercial content where we reasonably believe publication could breach applicable requirements or expose FEMEST or its audience to inappropriate or misleading material.

18. FEMEST’s Right to Decline

FEMEST reserves the right to decline a commercial collaboration before publication where the proposed subject, organisation, claims or materials are inconsistent with FEMEST’s editorial standards, audience or brand values.

Payment alone does not guarantee that material will be published irrespective of its content.

Where a paid collaboration is declined after payment, any refund or alternative arrangement will be considered according to the stage of work already completed and the applicable booking terms.

19. Relationship With Our Editorial Policy

This policy should be read alongside the FEMEST Editorial Policy.

Where commercial content takes the form of an interview, profile, article or other editorial-style feature, FEMEST’s wider editorial standards continue to apply.

20. Our Approach

Commercial partnerships allow FEMEST to work with women, founders, creatives, brands and organisations whose stories and work may be relevant to our audience.

We believe commercial publishing can coexist with credible journalism when relationships are approached transparently and appropriate editorial boundaries are maintained.

Our goal is to create partnerships that provide value to our commercial partners while respecting the trust of FEMEST readers and the integrity of the publication.
