Passion, Family, and Art: The Story Behind Sunday Lane Studio

A mother, artist, and entrepreneur shows how following her passion turned dreams into a global design studio. Her story will make you believe that creativity and hard work can change everything.

Sandra is a wife and mother of two children, living on the sunny south coast of New South Wales, Australia. Growing up surrounded by art, with her father and grandmother both being talented artists, she always dreamed of following in their creative footsteps. Art has been a constant part of her life, shaping her love for creativity and guiding her career path.

Her journey into graphic design officially began in 2003 when she completed a full-time Diploma in Graphic Design. Soon after, she started working as a freelance designer. Life, however, took her on a different adventure.

She launched her own children’s fashion label, designing unique clothing that quickly became one of Australia’s top handmade children’s fashion brands, admired for its creativity, originality, and strong commercial success.

“Dreams can come true if you keep trying and never give up.No matter how small or big your dreams are, you can make them real if you keep working for them. Sometimes it takes time, effort, and mistakes along the way, but every step teaches you something. Believing in yourself and never quitting is what turns dreams into reality.”

In 2020, she decided to return to what truly mattered to her. Selling her successful business, she returned to the world of graphic design, bringing with her the experience and knowledge of running a small business.

Today, Sandra helps other businesses succeed by creating brands that are not only visually stunning but also emotionally engaging. She is considered a small business cheerleader, combining artistic skill with smart ideas to support clients in reaching their goals.

Her work now spans clients all over the world. One notable project includes designing for a Play Cafe soon to open in New Jersey, USA  literally on the other side of the world. In 2024, she  received the prestigious Design Rush Designs of the Year award, a milestone that marked her growing influence in the global design community. Most days, she works solo in her studio, often accompanied by her loyal companion, a mischievous Cavoodle biscuit who shares her chair while she works.

“Doing what you love can take you to amazing places you never imagined. When you follow what makes your heart happy, life opens doors to new adventures. You might travel far, meet new people, and create something others will admire. Loving what you do makes every challenge easier and every success sweeter. Passion can truly take you places you never thought possible.”

What makes her designs stand out is the artful and careful way she works on every project. Each brand identity is crafted with hand-drawn illustrations and hand-painted artwork, designed to connect with the audience on an emotional level. Colour palettes are chosen with care, using colour psychology, so every part of the design tells a story. She also designs and builds websites on Squarespace and Shopify, giving businesses a complete and beautiful online home.

Her work reflects creativity in every detail, and clients often notice the deep thought and personal touch behind each design. For Sunday Lane, branding is not just making something look nice, it is about telling a story that people can feel, even before they read a word.

“Small actions and careful work can create something big and special. Even tiny steps, when done with care, can grow into something amazing over time. Each small effort adds up, and paying attention to details shows in the final result. Hard work, patience, and thoughtfulness are the secret ingredients that turn ordinary ideas into extraordinary achievements.”

Her journey shows that creativity, dedication, and belief in your work can turn dreams into reality. From growing up around art to running a successful children’s fashion label and returning to her true passion for graphic design, Sunday Lane continues to inspire businesses and people all over the world.
