Rooted in friendship and built on 30+ years of hospitality experience, it’s a space that feels like home. Expect thoughtful food, great coffee, and genuine connections.
Potter & Reid is a neighbourhood café and catering company tucked away in the heart of Spitalfields, East London. Just a short walk from Old Spitalfields Market, the space is cosy and peaceful, with classic décor and a warm, understated atmosphere.
Independent and female-founded, Potter & Reid was born from Dani and Agnes’ love of food, drinks and hospitality, and the unique way these elements bring people together.
Dani and Agnes set up Potter & Reid three years ago, bringing together over 30 years of hospitality experience. They had always been open to the idea of starting something of their own, often pouring over the details of what this would look like over a glass of wine or a great meal. During Covid a perfect opportunity opened up and they jumped on it. They met while working at the legendary coffee roaster Allpress, and always imagined creating a space that felt personal, welcoming and thoughtful.
Their bricks-and-mortar café opened its doors in 2022. Since then, they’ve built a loyal following for their nourishing seasonal food, friendly service, and attention to detail. Potter & Reid is their dream café come to life, an honest reflection of their style and values, where everything they do is driven by quality and community.
Their food is headed up by their head chef Sarah Dunnington who brings over 15 years of culinary experience, driven by their passion for making food that is simple, delicious, and accessible.
Originally from Canada, they studied French pastry at Le Cordon Bleu and worked at a number of cafes and restaurants in Montréal & London.
Potter & Reid’s monthly menu celebrates the best of Italian and English produce, with comforting, flavourful dishes made using quality ingredients from trusted suppliers like Shrub, La Sovrana and Neal’s Yard.
Their Montgomery Cheddar and West Country Ogleshield toastie, with homemade apple chilli jelly, was voted the best in London by Time Out. It’s one of the few staples on their seasonally changing menu, and perfectly sums up the Potter & Reid approach: simplicity, done really well.
Expect irresistible sandwiches, seasonal bakes, and weekly-changing lunch plates that reflect the time of year.
Coffee is always made with care and skill by their talented team of baristas, best enjoyed at the marble countertop. Alongside Allpress espresso, there’s also a rotating selection of single-origin filter coffees and beans to take home.
