With a global perspective and patient-first approach, she is reshaping the future of skin health. A name that continues to lead conversations in dermatology today.
A Different Way of Looking at Skin Health
Sonia Badreshia-Bansal is a board-certified dermatologist, dermatologic surgeon, and entrepreneur who is changing how dermatology connects with real life. As co-founder of Elite MD, one of the largest aesthetic centres in Northern California and a global training site, she has created a space where advanced medical care meets real patient needs.
Her work sits at the intersection of science, aesthetics, and accessibility. Instead of following a traditional path, she has focused on building a model that feels both modern and inclusive.

Where It All Began
Dr. Sonia trained at Penn State College of Medicine, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. She was also among the first Indian American dermatologists accepted into the programme.
Her early experience working alongside leading dermatologists across the country helped shape her approach. It gave her a strong clinical foundation while also opening the door to innovation in aesthetic care.
Seeing the Gaps That Others Missed
A key turning point in her journey came from recognising what was missing. Many patients especially those with skin of colour or sensitive, reactive skin were not always fully considered in standard dermatology practices.
This led her to co-edit the textbook Treatments for Skin of Color, helping bring more attention to inclusive care. Over time, she has become a recognised speaker, sharing her insights on acne, pigmentation, and aesthetic dermatology in a way that feels clear and practical.
Her work has also been featured on platforms, where she continues to make dermatologic science easier to understand for a wider audience.

Building Something Bigger: Elite MD
At Elite MD, Dr. Sonia has helped grow a practice that now reaches far beyond its local base. Patients travel from all 50 U.S. states and over 25 countries across six continents, reflecting its global presence.
The centre also serves as a research and training site, working closely with industry leaders and staying connected to new developments in dermatology, laser, and aesthetic medicine.
What stands out is how the practice combines expertise with accessibility creating a space that feels both advanced and approachable.
Beyond the Clinic
Dr. Sonia’s work extends into education, research, and public conversations. She has served as a peer reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD) and contributed to initiatives with the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD).
She also hosts a podcast focused on beauty, wellness, and science, where she explores how evidence-based care can help people feel more confident in their skin.

Bringing Science Into Everyday Products
Her role in dermatology also includes product innovation. Dr. Sonia collaborates with leading beauty brands to bring scientific understanding into everyday skincare.
She was involved as a co-creator in the launch of the Native Sensitive Series, working alongside experts to develop formulations designed for sensitive skin. Her focus in these collaborations remains on safety, effectiveness, and inclusivity.
A Broader View of Beauty
Earlier in her journey, Dr. Sonia’s experiences extended beyond medicine. She was recognised as First Runner-Up for Miss India New York and selected as a Dove “Next Real Woman.” She was also a finalist for Estée Lauder’s Beauty & You initiative in India.
She was also part of a Guinness World Record for the most skin cancer screenings conducted in a single day reflecting her commitment to impact at a larger scale.
She is currently developing a nonprofit initiative focused on supporting girls and women through education, mentorship, and access to opportunities.
She believes that confidence can come from many places—education, health, or self-image and that it has the power to create lasting change.

The Bigger Picture
At the centre of Dr. Sonia’s work is a simple but important belief: skin health should be inclusive, personal, and accessible.
Whether through patient care, education, research, or innovation, she continues to shape a future where dermatology feels more connected to the people it serves.
