The Best Trip Tips for Travelers – Business Insider Travel – How To Travel On A Budget
The 6 Essentials You Need To Know How to travel on a budget: Learn everything about planning your next adventure as a traveller on a low budget, whether you’re travelling solo or with friends or family.
The First Essential for Travelling on a Budget is Accommodation
If you are like me, you dream of travelling the world and sharing it with many people. You want to go to exotic places, make new friends, and see things few people have ever seen. A chance to travel the world on your budget. When I started my travels in January 2016, I had no idea how much I would save in my first year. I knew nothing about budgets, savings or travel insurance. I did not know how much money I needed to save each month and what kind of insurance was right for me (it turns out that most travellers need a specific cover).
What’s also fantastic is how much better you’ll feel when you’ve travelled on a budget:
You will be more likely to stop worrying about your finances, have more time for yourself, and spend time with friends and family rather than worrying about making more money.
One has a chance to meet other travellers on the journey; share the stories behind your journeys (some are amazing)
One can feel less lonely when you’re away from home, which is one of the best ways to reduce stress.
The Second Essential For Travelling on a Budget is Food.
An old saying goes, “If you want to travel cheaply, get a cheap airline. If you want to travel cheaply, book a luxury hotel.”
Both true and untrue. It is true because very often, cheap airlines will be the first to ditch their planes and fly direct to your destination for less than it would cost you if you were flying on commercial airliners. They are just trying to get as many people as possible on board their plane.
It is also untrue because it is still worth buying a nice hotel room or even booking a flight on a cheap airline so that you can see the sights in any of the world’s 100+ countries.
The debate around this issue has taken many different forms over the years. For example, some people think that saving money by booking directly from an airline (rather than going through an agency) will yield more value (even though it’s going to cost more). Others think paying for luxury accommodation and dining will deliver more value (because it’s not likely cheaper).
We need to take into account both sides of this equation when we’re thinking about travelling on a budget – there’s no straight-forward answer when it comes down to who gets what in terms of value out of each type of trip: they all have different traits, so what works for one person may not work for someone else.
When I think about my travel plans, I aim for journeys with flexibility – which means I’m willing to pay for flights with layovers and overnight stays in hotels where I don’t have much expectation about what I’ll experience at any particular time. But then, after spending some time investigating all my options, I decide which option strikes me as being most valuable (and thus worth paying the total price for). This route isn’t always easy, though – sometimes, there are days when I feel like absolutely nothing is happening outside the four walls of my hotel room.
The Third Essential For Travelling on a Budget is Transportation
We have all heard the phrase: “You only get one life, so live it well”. It applies to travel too – you only get one life, so make the best of it by travelling as much as possible. Travelling is not only about discovering new places but also about connecting with people from all walks of life who share your interests, passions and passions.
Avoid using cheap or free services if at all possible, whether it’s uber or taxi or scooter; instead, use local services for short rides wherever possible (I recommend Uber for short rides). They are cheaper than other services, often offer more rides per unit cost than other options (especially Uber) and will be able to accommodate larger groups of people quickly.
For longer journeys that require public transport (like taxis), look for taxis that allow riders to book directly into their app before arriving at their destination. Then, you can track their journey in real-time while they wait for you at the doorstep and know precisely where they are going (which ultimately saves money).
Suppose you can afford to consider using a car rental service like Thriftycar, where everything is taken care of for us 2-3 days before our flight. We don’t have to worry about parking fees or anything else until that day when we arrive at our destination and find out there are no parking fees to pay! Car rentals make driving an experience over which we feel ownership and control.
