Her journey from financial struggles to legal success is a story of grit and growth. Specializing in corporate law, media regulations, and human rights, she not only defends clients but also helps shape legal reforms. With an unshakable belief in integrity and justice, she stands as a role model for the next generation of fearless female lawyers.

Can you share a bit about your early life and what inspired you to pursue a career in law?

I was born and raised in Kosovo, a country that has faced numerous hardships, including the war that ended in 1999, when I was 11 years old. As a result, I experienced a challenging childhood, marked by both existential struggles and financial difficulties.

However, I believe that these very circumstances shaped my resilience and strengthened my determination to contribute to the pursuit of justice.

Growing up in an environment where discussions on legal matters and human rights were a fundamental part of family and society conversations sparked my interest in law from an early age.

Additionally, during my university studies, I was part of the legal team in a private company, an experience that further solidified my passion for pursuing a career in law.

How has your family’s support influenced your journey as a lawyer, and what role do they play in keeping you motivated?

My family has been the cornerstone of my support system. They have provided me with strength and encouragement at every stage of my career, especially during the most challenging moments.

Undoubtedly, when there is harmony within the family, one’s professional focus becomes clearer and more visionary. Their motivation and unwavering support have helped me navigate pressure and remain dedicated to the path I have chosen.

What was your experience like when you first stepped into the legal profession, and what key lessons did you learn?

Like in any other profession, the beginning is always challenging and comes with many difficulties. The early steps in my career were no exception, but they were also incredibly valuable learning experiences that helped shape me professionally.

Facing complex cases and the need to gain practical experience allowed me to develop strong analytical skills and critical thinking.

The most important lesson I learned is that patience, dedication, preparation, and integrity, which I personally consider to be the key elements of success in this field—are essential for overcoming challenges and excelling in the legal profession.

Having worked in both corporate and private legal sectors, what distinct challenges and insights have shaped your approach?

Working in the private sector has given me a broad perspective on corporate legal structures, contractual relationships, and the strategic importance of the private sector in the economy.

More importantly, it has provided me with firsthand insight into the challenges that businesses face. This experience has been invaluable in my current profession, as it allows me to better understand the day-to-day legal issues companies encounter and to effectively protect my clients’ interests.

I would say that this combination of experiences has been the perfect blend, enabling me to integrate both legal expertise and practical business understanding to offer the best possible legal support.

What motivated you to specialize in telecommunications and media law, and what complexities make these fields unique?

Being part of a company that provides telecommunications services, and audiovisual content has fortunately given me the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and develop expertise in these two highly specialized fields.

Telecommunications and media are industries that evolve at a rapid pace, requiring a dynamic approach to regulation and operations. Their ever-changing nature demands continuous engagement, and for me, it has been both a privilege and a pleasure to closely follow these developments and remain actively involved in their growth.

Furthermore, my role in this sector has allowed me to contribute to shaping the legal framework, as well as interpreting and implementing legal provisions in an industry that is constantly evolving. Given its unique nature, this field is also highly complex due to the intersection of law, technology, and public policy, making it both challenging and intellectually stimulating.

Can you share a particularly challenging legal case or regulatory issue you handled, and how you approached it?

Due to the sensitive nature of the legal profession, we constantly deal with highly delicate and complex cases. One of the cases I would particularly highlight is the protection of foreign investors’ interests in Kosovo, as they often encounter various challenges along the way.

Recognizing the strategic importance and sustainability of foreign investments, I believe it is crucial to ensure their protection in the best possible way. In one particularly complex case, I leveraged all my knowledge and expertise to defend one of the largest investors in Kosovo, ensuring that their existing investments were safeguarded and that they could operate in a fair and legally secure environment.

As a female attorney, have you faced gender biases in the legal industry? If so, how did you navigate them?

Yes, as in many other professions, there are challenges for women in the legal industry as well. I have encountered various biases, but I have always faced them by focusing on professionalism, preparation, and resilience.

I believe that the best way to overcome these prejudices is to stay focused on oneself and on what one represents. That is why I have allowed my professional results to speak for themselves, proving my abilities and expertise. I strongly believe that continuous dedication and ethical standards are what truly define success—not gender.

Balancing a demanding legal career with family life is no small feat. What strategies have helped you manage both successfully?

Time management and prioritization are key strategies. I have learned to be efficient in my work by using strategic planning and delegating tasks when necessary.

Additionally, I make sure that the time spent with my family is meaningful, maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life.

However, a crucial role in this balance is played by my family, especially my husband, whose dedication to our family provides me with immense support and allows me to fully commit to my profession.

With your extensive experience in regulatory compliance, what key reforms do you think would improve Kosovo’s legal landscape?

I believe that establishing new mechanisms to facilitate the work of the judiciary and other authorities within the justice system, as well as strengthening judicial independence and ensuring stricter enforcement of existing laws, would significantly contribute to increasing trust in the legal system.

Additionally, enhancing transparency, improving access to justice, and investing in the continuous professional development of legal professionals are essential steps toward creating a more efficient and credible legal system.

Public awareness and legal education also play a crucial role in fostering trust, ensuring that citizens understand their rights and have confidence in the institutions that uphold them.

Many aspiring lawyers look up to you. What essential qualities do you believe young women entering the legal profession should cultivate?

Continuous hard work, integrity, dedication, and a willingness to learn are essential qualities. Young women entering this profession should be bold, confident, and unafraid to seek opportunities for professional growth.

They must remain focused on their goals and not be discouraged by the challenges they face daily. On the contrary, these challenges should serve as a source of strength, empowering them to grow and proving their worth for the positions they will hold. Resilience, perseverance, and commitment to excellence are what will ultimately define their success in the legal field.

Continuous learning is crucial in law. How do you stay updated with evolving legal frameworks and regulations?

Continuous reading of legal literature, participation in conferences and professional seminars, as well as collaboration with colleagues and experts in the field, help me stay informed about legal changes and developments.

However, I believe that the most important aspect is practical experience. Every new case we handle provides an opportunity to learn something new and refresh our legal knowledge. Practical application not only deepens our understanding but also enhances our ability to adapt to the evolving complexities of the legal profession.

Looking back at your journey, what achievement stands out as the most defining moment of your career?

The defining moment of my career as a lawyer has been the gratitude and trust I receive from clients for protecting their interests. This has reinforced not only the noble role and great responsibility that a lawyer carries but also the profound impact we have on our clients’ lives and rights.

Every case I represent is an opportunity to learn and grow—not only professionally, by refining my legal skills and defense strategies, but also personally, by gaining a deeper understanding of people, their challenges, and the fundamental importance of integrity and ethics in this profession.

I believe that justice is built on dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment. As lawyers, our impact goes beyond legal battles—we shape lives, protect rights, and uphold the very foundation of justice. The true measure of success in this profession is not just winning cases but making a lasting difference.
